Here is Mayor Peter J. Malouf's opening comments at the April 15, 2025 regular meeting of the Town Council. It has been adapted for the Web.
Note: The full recording of the meeting will be available on the Town's Youtube Channel.
" Good evening everyone, and thank you for sharing your evening with us.
Here is a brief overview of recent developments and upcoming initiatives.
Due to the procurement rules governing design-build projects, I am not yet able to share specific details. However, I am pleased to report that we have received the proposals, and the evaluation process is progressing well. We remain confident, and more information will be shared at the May council meeting.
We are preparing a survey to gather your feedback on the Town’s communications. A card with a QR code will be delivered to each home in early May, enabling residents to participate online. The survey will remain open for approximately three weeks, and two $250 gift certificates will be drawn among the respondents.
In the coming weeks, the Town Centre will undergo various infrastructure works including road resurfacing, sewer and watermain work, and the construction of a new bike path. These activities will result in some traffic disruptions. We are doing our best to minimize the inconvenience, but traffic slowdowns are to be expected.
We’ve added a dedicated section to our website detailing the recent measures the Town has taken to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. I encourage you to take a look for more information.
The newly established Environment Committee held its first meeting three weeks ago, and a second is scheduled for early May. While their work is just beginning, the members are already demonstrating strong commitment, offering innovative ideas, and are ready to meet the challenges ahead.
As previously announced, April 22 marks Earth Day. In addition to the activities at the library, a cherry tree will be offered to one resident per district via a draw. You can register on our website, and the draw will take place on April 22.
This summer, despite the ongoing works in the Town Centre, a piano will be installed in the park thanks to a generous donation from a resident. It will be accessible daily from morning until evening, offering our resident musicians the opportunity to share their talent with the community.
Thank you once again for your attention. I wish you a productive council meeting and joyful spring celebrations. "
