Parking

You must always respect:

• No stopping signs
• Fire hydrants
• Temporary road signs (work, prohibition, snow removal, etc.)
• Reserved spaces for persons with reduced mobility
• Reserved spaces for sticker

You may not park your vehicle less than 3 meters from a private driveway.

You must also respect these parking regulations within town limits.

The outdoor parking lot adjacent to the Town Hall is now open, it is important to respect the existing signage.

The public parking spaces have time restrictions as well as time slots where parking is prohibited to allow for cleaning or plowing of the lot. These restrictions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and snow removal. Complying with them will spare you the inconvenience of being ticketed or having your vehicle towed.

Please make sure to respect the spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility and for employees.

Maximum of 24 hours

For spaces reserved for the public, it is forbidden to leave your vehicle in the parking lot adjacent to Town Hall for more than 24 consecutive hours.  

In order to avoid a parking ticket, we recommend that you move your vehicle out of the parking lot adjacent to Town Hall for at least 12 hours between parking periods. 

The indoor parking lot, near Mount Royal Town Hall, is open Monday to Sunday from 6:00 to 23:00. Parking is free at all times. Please note that it is forbidden to park for more than 4 consecutive hours, or to leave your vehicle in the parking lot after opening hours.

Except for certain parts of Town centre during certain periods, street parking in Mount Royal is limited to four hours on any one block. 

Overnight parking on streets regardless of the 4-hour limit is allowed only if you have a temporary overnight parking permit. This rule applies from midnight to 8:00 everywhere within the territory of Town of Mount Royal, unless otherwise indicated.

However, you can obtain a free temporary overnight parking permit between 00:00 and 8:00 if you have visitors. Note that these permits are limited to a maximum of nine nights per month, per vehicle.

Need a temporary overnight parking permit between 00:00 and 8:00? Apply for your permit online, making sure to follow these steps in order:

• First, create a user account to access the Town of Mount Royal's Public Security website.
• Then, complete your profile by going to the "Profile" tab.
• Then, register your vehicles' information by going to the "My vehicles" tab.
• Once everything is completed, apply for your permit by going to the "Permit request" tab. Be sure to select the right vehicle with the right date before finalizing your request.
• Once the application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation by email. Each permit will be detailed and accessible at all times in the "My permits" tab.

Please call Public Security at 514 734-4666 for any questions or for any other request that does not correspond to the night permit valid between 00:00 and 8:00. Indeed, requests for any other type of parking permit must be made by phone (emails not accepted) and must be approved by Public Security.

More Flexible Parking Restrictions on Certain Streets in Town Centre, West of the Railway

An area within our Town Centre has seen restrictions on street parking become more flexible. The map outlines the area concerned, which corresponds to the immediate surroundings of Connaught Park but also includes Sherwood Crescent, Alexander and Moyle roads and Deal and Hudson avenues.

Within the area concerned:

• on some streets, on Saturdays and Sundays only, the Town lifted the ban on parking longer than four hours in the same block on a public road during the day (8:00 to midnight);
• night parking (midnight to 8:00) is now authorized throughout the week and no special permit will be required.

Despite the above, please note that all other applicable restrictions (parking stickers, special 30-minute limits, parking and road signs) continue to apply without exception.

Parking in this flexible zone does not permit free parking during periods of snow removal or for any other roadworks or maintenance work on the public highway for which compliant temporary prohibition signs are visible.  The Town may prohibit parking anywhere on its territory within 4 hours' notice. It is therefore up to all drivers to check the signs regularly and respect temporary bans. If they are not respected, vehicles parked in contravention of the signs will be penalized and may be towed away at the owner's expense.

When they are available, Town Centre merchants and their employees may obtain an affordable long-term parking stickers. By using parking spaces specially reserved for them, they free up spaces closer to their shops for use by shoppers.
