2025 Municipal Election

As in every other Municipality in Quebec, an election will be held in Town of Mount Royal this fall. The purpose of the November 2, 2025 election is to fill the positions of Mayor and the eight Town councillors.

We invite you to visit this page regularly as the information will be updated and expanded as the election period progresses.

KEY DATES

  • September 19 to October 3, 2025: Period for submitting a nomination - CLOSED
  • October 14 to 16, 2025: Period for reviewing the list of electors - See update from October 6, 2025
  • October 24, 2025: Vote at the office of the returning officer (12:00 to 20:00, at Town Hall, 90 Roosevelt Avenue)
  • October 25 and 26, 2025: Advance poll (12:00 to 20:00, at Town Hall, 90 Roosevelt Avenue)
  • November 2, 2025: Polling day (10:00 to 20:00, at the location specified on your reminder card)

Seeking Electoral Staff

THE RECRUITMENT PERIOD CLOSED ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2025

The Town of Mount Royal is currently recruiting election staff for the 2025 municipal elections.

Work days are scheduled for October 24, 25 and 26, and November 2, 2025. Various positions are available, with remuneration ranging from $ 200 to $ 400/day, depending on the role.

A short mandatory training session will be provided on a weeknight between October 20 and October 30, 2025, depending on the position. Experience in election or referendum work is an asset, but not a requirement. Functional bilingualism is required.

NOMINATION PAPERS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED

Any Town of Mount Royal elector who meets the legal requirements may submit a nomination. Electors who wanted to run as a candidate in the election had until 16:30 on October 3, 2025, to submit their nomination paper in person.

IMPORTANT: nomination papers were accepted from September 19, 2025, until 16:30 on October 3, 2025.

Preliminary Election Expense Limits

List of Electors

The list of electors will be sent to the returning officer by the Chief Electoral Officer of Quebec. The expected date for the filing of the list of electors is October 6, 2025.

A notice of revision of the list of electors will be delivered to every address in the Town during the same week. Please read it carefully. The notice lists the names of the electors who are entered for your address. If you name does not appear on the notice or if you do not receive the notice, you are not entered on the list of electors. In such cases, we encourage you to immediately contact the office of the returning officer to determine whether you are registered to vote. Please note that to be eligible to vote on November 2, you must be entered on the list of electors.

The Canada Post strike is forcing us to change the way we reach out to voters.

We have set up a system to deliver registration notices to all addresses in TMR. Please verify your mailbox regularly.

Should you do not receive your registration notice, you can use the following alternative.

If your name is not on the list, please call the Office of the Returning Officer at 514 734-3012.

You can also consult the electoral list in person at the Office of the Returning Officer at 90, Roosevelt Avenue, Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:30.

IMPORTANT: Your registration must be validated by October 16, before 16:00after that time, it will no longer be possible to modify the electoral list.

REQUEST FOR A REVIEW

Any request to adjust the list of electors (adding, correcting or removing a name) must be submitted to the Electoral Roll Review Committee, which will sit at 90 Roosevelt Avenue, Town of Mount Royal on October 14, 15 and 16, 2025.

  • Tuesday, October 14, from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00;
  • Wednesday, October 15, from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00;
  • Thursday, October 16, from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00.

If you see an error on the notice of revision, you are responsible for contacting the committee to have the necessary changes made.

All requests for revision must be completed by 16:00 on October 16, 2025, after which point the list of electors cannot be changed.

IMPORTANT: You cannot vote if your name is not on the list of electors.

Reminder Card

If you are entered on the list of electors, you will receive a reminder card by courier starting October 11, 2025. The card will provide the address of the polling station and the names of all the candidates for the district in which you reside.

Keep your reminder card and bring it with you when you go to vote: it will help the election officers find your name on the list of electors more quickly.

Mobile Polling Station

Conditions to be eligible to vote at a mobile polling station

A mobile polling station may visit a room in a recognized healthcare facility or a private residence if the elector meets the following conditions:

  • Has a mobility impairment or is unable to move for health reasons;
  • Is registered on the electoral list as a domiciled person;
  • Has submitted a request to the returning officer no later than October 16, 2025.

A caregiver who lives at the same address may also submit a registration request.

An elector who wishes to vote using this method must submit a request to the returning officer:

What is the deadline to register?

The returning officer must receive the request no later than October 16, 2025.

When Can I Vote?

The mobile polling station will operate, if applicable, on October 27, 28, and/or 29, 2025.

Electors will be contacted during the week of October 20 to be informed of the date and time when election staff will visit their room or residence.

Vote at the Office of the Returning Officer

A vote at the office of the returning officer will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, between 12:00 and 20:00. This poll is open to all voters who are entered on the list of electors. Voting will take place at Town Hall, located at 90 Roosevelt Avenue.

Advance Poll

An advance poll will be held on Friday, October 24, Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26, 2025, between 12:00 and 20:00. This poll is open to all voters who are entered on the list of electors. Voting will take place at Town Hall, located at 90 Roosevelt Avenue.

Polling Day

The election will take place on Sunday, November 2, 2025, between 10:00 and 20:00. The polling station will be specified on your reminder card.

Results

Vote counting will begin when the polling stations close on November 2, 2025, at 20:00. The results will be announced on the Town’s website beginning at 21:00 and as they become available.
