Spring Horticultural Activities at the Library

Several horticultural events to underline Earth Day (April 22) are planned over the coming weeks at the Library.

Seed Library Launch

Saturday, March 22 from 10:00, while stocks last

Did you know that the library has its own seed collection? Here’s how it works: choose among several species of seeds and choose the ones you want. Sow the seeds, and then plant the seedlings in your garden beds or in pots. Thanks to such resources as the seed library, urban agriculture has become more accessible than ever! You might find seeds to grow your own lemon cucumber, poppies, or even a Moldavian dragonhead! Start planting as of March 22!

Conference: Lawn, landscape and gardening

Tuesday, April 22 at 19:00

The plant world follows immutable laws that work in harmony. How does a tree survive on a rock without soil? Why does a wild prairie bloom without human intervention? The answers are rooted in the laws of nature. Ignoring these laws limits our understanding. Serge Fortier, an expert horticulturist, has learned to respect these principles and is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience.

Please note, even if you bring several cuttings of the same species, you will only be able to leave with one. This is an opportunity to share your passion for plants and discover new species.
