On March 1 and 2, two REM trains will conduct an initial run at very low speed between Du Ruisseau and McGill Stations, marking their first entry into the Mount Royal Tunnel since construction began.
This test will validate the tracks by allowing the REM system to communicate with beacons installed along the route. By capturing these signals, the trains will be able to operate automatically, determining their exact position in real time. This step is also crucial for identifying key network elements such as station arrivals, platform locations, and track switches.
Completing this validation is a necessary step before preparing the network for preliminary test runs, which are scheduled to begin in spring 2025 on this segment.
