During the month of October, the Town of Mount Royal's Public Safety Department will be relaunching “living radar” operations around the municipality's elementary school. With the success of the first campaign carried out in spring 2024, this initiative continues in collaboration with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) with the aim of reinforcing road safety around schools.
Students equipped with radar backpacks will be positioned near schools, enabling drivers to see their speed in real time. Police officers will be on hand to monitor drivers' behavior, and those who fail to comply with speed limits will receive warnings or even tickets.
This initiative reminds drivers of the importance of safe driving in school zones, further reducing speeding and protecting children on their way to and from school.
