Since the month of April, the Town of Mount Royal has been participating in the Ensemble on verdit residential greening campaign, an initiative of the GRAME (Group of recommendations and actions for a better environment) that allows residents to plant or replace a tree on their property, all at a competitive price.
As part of the campaign, the Town, is subsidizing the purchase of a limited number of trees (subject to program availability and limited to one tree per address). It must be a new planting and not the replacement of a cut tree. This subsidy will allow citizens to plant one or more new trees on their property. In addition to participating in increasing the territory’s canopy, these trees will also help counter the effects of heat islands and increase biodiversity on the territory.
Don't let this opportunity pass you by: autumn is the perfect time to plant a tree!
It is important to be aware of the regulations provided by your inspector to ensure that your tree is planted in a suitable location (The tree must not be planted within the Town's right-of-way). Take a look at the selection of trees, carefully chosen by the experts at GRAME for their contributions to biodiversity and the urban tree canopy.
