The Town Renews the Collective Agreement for its Blue-Collar and Professional Employees!

During the week of July 8, 2024, the Town of Mount Royal formalized the signing of new collective agreements for its blue-collar and professional employees. These agreements define working conditions and demonstrate the Town's commitment to its employees for years to come.

Renewal of the Collective Agreement for Blue-Collar Employees of the Town of Mount Royal

The Town of Mount Royal is proud to announce the signing of a new collective agreement on July 9, 2024, with the Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de Montréal (SCFP-301), marking a stronger partnership between the two parties and improving working conditions for all employees.

This agreement, reached after months of constructive negotiations, puts in place a solid framework for labour relations and establishes the working conditions of the Town of Mont-royal's blue-collar employees for a period ending December 31, 2026, or until a new collective agreement is signed. The agreement provides for a number of improvements and new features, including :

  • Salary revisions: staggered increases to ensure competitive and fair compensation (2022: 3.75%, 2023 and 2024: 4.25%, 2025 IPC +0.50% and 2026: 3.5% )
  • Increase in the employment floor (59 to 60)
  • Integration of a three (3) step salary structure
  • Probationary period extended (from 520 hours to 1,200 hours)
  • Reorganization of work schedule
  • Creation of an evening schedule (November 15 to April 15)

Mayor Peter J. Malouf and Town Manager Ava Couch commented: "This new collective agreement is the result of open, transparent and professional negotiations with the Syndicat des cols bleus regroupés de Montréal (SCFP-301). We firmly believe that this agreement will foster a positive and productive work environment."

This agreement is a testament to the commitment of both parties to work together for the common benefit of all blue-collar employees of the Town of Mount Royal.

Renewal of the Collective Agreement for Professional Employees of the Town of Mount Royal

The Town is pleased to announce the conclusion and signing of a new collective agreement on July 10, 2024, with its professional employees. This agreement is the result of extensive discussions and negotiations, and reflects the commitment of both parties to improving working conditions and promoting a harmonious and productive work environment.

The new collective agreement establishes the working conditions of professional employees for a period ending December 31, 2027, or until a new collective agreement is signed. The agreement includes key provisions, such as :

  • Salary revisions: staggered increases to ensure competitive and fair compensation (2021: 2.75%, 2022: 3.50%, 2023: 4.75%, 2024: 4.75%, 2025: CPI + 0.50%, 2026 and 2027: CPI minimum 2% - maximum 3%) 
  • Improvements to benefits: better group insurance coverage and a change to the quantum of vacation on hiring
  • Probationary period extended (from 60 days to 6 months)
